I have decided to put a list of 'extras' up in the tack room - maybe my ever evasive livery will actually do stuff herself if she thinks she is going to get charged for it....

Have I missed anything and do you think the prices are fair?

extras price list
As of 14/09.09

All extras will be added to your bill at the end of each month.

Turn Out - £2.50

Bring in - £2.50

Muck out (full) - £5.00

Skip out (just poo!) - £2.50

Waters - £1

Hay -£1

Feed (per horse) - £1

Rug change - £1.50

Hoof pick/brush off/check over- £2

Attendance for farrier/vet etc - £10 p/h

I would whack muck out up to like 10! if she has a full bed, depends what they have though. I'd make skip out £5, and then everything else i think is pretty fair tbh.

But then maybe that reflects how much effort i think mucking out is! xxxxx

Either that or she'll start texting some other mug to do it, hopefully she'll start taking responsibilty for her horse.

Very good! Might be worth putting something to the effect that you expect all horses to be checked at least once a day by their owners/other and if this is not possible for any reason, please write in the diary and you will do it - for the £2 fee!

They are v. similar to prices i used to pay at my old yard- not that i did often but when i was on hols etc. I think they are v fair- if she is that bad then maybe put a price for all inclusive up as well and make it high

also say to others that they could charge her too!!!

Oh and i think the general check over should be more as well, because technically you'd have to bring him in, and its basically essential to the horses wellbeing that its checked over! Make that like £5.

I am not mad about neat bets, it takes me about 5 mins to do a stable (do 3 before work so I have been part of the "no poo piles, most of wet out and swept back" club for about 12 years now)

I still hate mucking out though!

Yes, those are the prices I would expect to pay for these services.

However, it doesn't address your problems with her. So you'll still have to talk to her about what the minimum requirements of horse ownership are......

I know. So annoying though as I would hate her to think I was being difficult, I want everyone on the yard to enjoy themselves and be happy and dont want any atmosphere

Our yard have muck out/hay/water as one inclusive price. She'll only cut corners by not having you do the waters, and IMO its not on to deliberatly leave a horse without access to clean water.

i think they are pretty fair prices, i charge the following

£2 turnout

£2.50 bring in

£4 muck out

£3 Skip out.

£2 per wheelbarrow of poo.

I managed to do some many things in an hour the other day i ended up on £16 an hour!!!
