i've just got back from the vets- i was at dog training and my dog got jumped on by another dog totally out of the blue- it tried to bite him as well so he has two puncture wounds

i've never felt so sick...my dog is a 9 month old whippet and the other dog was a big strapping dalmation. bobby started screaming his head off- thought he had broken his leg...never seen him shake so much either. fortunately he just has two minor puncture woulds so been given antibiotics and will hopefully be ok. am now really worried that he will be terrified of other dogs

This is a nightmare when a young pup is badly bitten like this, as PBS suggests get him out and about with some friendly dogs asap as not to knock his confidence to much..............I would hope the trainer stepped in to stop this immediately and did not leave it to you.

oh yes trainer was briliant, we pulled bobby out for 15 minutes to calm down and then took him back in just to sit on my knee and watch the other dogs but he was really shaking. then i noticed the puncture wounds so thought it better to go to the vets....have spoken to her since i got back and she is pulling the culprit out of the class to do some one to one work so at least we should be ok to return net week. have a friend with two very friendly and calm labs so will take him round there next week....

for a whippet he's really brave with other dogs so hope this doesn't affect him...

well the OH has been in charge this weekend (i've been away at camp) and he said he's has talked to some little dogs no problem...so just need to see what he's like with bigger ones and fingers crossed his natural cockyness will overtake his fear

he's still limping a bit but its much better than it was

My little lurcher was also attacked at puppy training by a dalmation - they seem to be prone to attacking. The trainer simply banned the dalmation from puppy training and did nothing with my little chap. Luckily I had lots of friends with wel behaved dogs so I just took him out with them and let him play. He was very wary at first but then soon forgot his attack. However he is not at all keen on dalmations now and avoids them like the plague.

maybe said dalmation moved up the country to lancashire after his expulsion and is now terrorising little skinny dogs up here instead of in devon

I have two dalmations one 12 and one almost 10 and mine certainly dont go round attacking other dogs. I would ask that you please dont tar all dalmations with the same brush as they are no more prone to attcking another dog than any other breed.
