So last week it was the cost of exray's, one night stay in hospital and antibiotics after swallowing a stone - thank god no surgery required.

and now this........

To set the scene..... my OH car is sat on the driveway with the engine in the garage all dismantled including a tub of old engine oil, our garage is integral and our freezer is kept in there.
I go to get some food, dog has followed me ( I was not aware ) and as I come out of the garage I see foot prints from the hallway into the lounge and kitchen..........yes you has guessed it right - he has gone into the tub of oil and walked it all over the carpets ( pale pink )

So after 1hr scrubbing by hand, then with the vax.........definitly new carpets required!!!

I do hate the carpets as they were 'inherited' when we moved in and not exactly the best colour with 3 dogs, but I am so skint new carpets were not on the agenda this year.

This why we love our dogs - they make us worry but do make us laugh!!

That's almost spaniel levels of vets bills and chaos there:cool:

I swear, whenever a new spaniel is registered at a vets, if you listen very carefully you can hear the senior partners leaping about clicking their heels and whooping:eek::D

I'd regard it as a wonderful excuse to get rid of a pink carpet, personally. :p I'm stuck with a combination of hideous blue (shows the white hairs magnificently) and elderly laminate (creates tumbling hairballs). No oil stains though. :D

Insure, the dog and the house:rolleyes: you should beable to claim on the household insrance for that, my sis spilt bleach on a really old carpet and they still paid out for a new expensive one, if the paw prints are not noticable, jsut say hubby was holding tub the wrong way and spilt it all over the carpet.

So on the subject of changing the carpet.........whats the best colour if you have 3 Fox Terriers??

Decided on laminate in the hallway with rugs but I still like a nice cosy carpet in the lounge.

Pink carpets go lovely with the chip paper on the walls ( at least 10 layers!! ) in yellow - it was a repossesion.

2 of mine ate the contents of a chip pan... came into the kitchen to see them both sliding round on the oil they had regurgitated out of both ends :eek: That floor was slightly slippy for months !

Mine drank a tub of IV Horse MFP, he was doing oily whistling farts for weeks!!!

3 Fox Terriers?!? I can just about cope with 1 :D we also have inherrited dark pink/red carpet, blue carpet squares downstairs and new beige/cream carpets upstairs. Have to say the beige/cream hides the fur (if she manages to sneak upstairs) torn between having wooden floors and rugs or some sort of carpet (she won't be able to have mad half hour without some sort of rug/carpet  )

my girl must have overheard me and OH discussing replacing the linoleum in the kitchen as the very next day she had removed it for us and even went to the great pains of shredding it too! she also decide that she fancied a dog flap...in the kitchen wall! unfortunatly she realised that once she was into the central cavity her teeth where no match against brick lol
