My dog is un well-I think- advice please

My 11 yo Springer is out of sorts this morning he hasnt eaten his breakfast(totally out of character) and is just laying down, doesn want to go out and play, he usually does 3 laps round the garden at speed and a run round our fields. But he is just not interested ive taken his temp and it 39.5 c, a friend of mine told me to give him a paracetamol to to take his temp down, or shall I do temp in morning see how he is and take him to the vets.

Aspirin is better than paracetamol for dogs. But it's a pain killer, and you do not know if he is in pain. If your old dog is not his usual self, then take him to your vet for a checkup. At 11 years of age , he is an old boy. It is not going to cost you a fortune for them to give him a once over.

Please do take him to the vets if it will not stress him out too much and keep an eye on him.
