My dog is weird, and I love it

She's just so quirky and weird ?. She won't chase a ball under any circumstances but loves to chase another dog that chases a ball. Refuses to put one dainty paw in a puddle or any open water yet thrives when she goes to an indoor hydrotherapy centre. Happily jumps on the sofa or in the car but never jumps back down, apparently believes its beneath her and needs to be assisted down. Constantly sleeps/rests in strange positions that surely can't be comfortable. Will only get into the car on the rear passenger side, if I open the rear door drivers side she will just stand there, so if I'm parking on the road I have to take this into account.

I'd not change a single thing about her mind. Would love to hear any other stories of weird/quirky dogs, plus pictures.

Our brown one, who may not be as much of a Lab as I was told (rehomed, without a pedigree) also chases dogs who are chasing balls but won't pick a ball up on a walk. She will pick up a ball and carry it at home, though. And while not keen on puddles, she will happily go into the sea or the river.

Mine (border collie) has zero enthusiasm for ‘normal’ games and is a bit of a wierdo. He will trot over and airsnap at me asking to play, I then get try the following…

Throw a ball/frisbee/stick - he will just stare at you like you are the dumbest person on earth and go back to what he was doing, or air snap again asking for a different game.

Agility - point at a jump and he will look at you, look at the jump, look back at you to confirm you really do want him to jump that thing. Then he will turn and WALK up to the jump, jump it, and then trot back and wait for his reward for being amazing.

Tug - nope, too polite. He says if I want it so much I am more than welcome to have it.

He isn’t a big chewer. I will give him a chew and he will ignore it completely until perhaps 5 weeks later when he, for no clear reason to me, decides it is now interesting.

likes to sleep with his legs pointing one way and his head twisted all the way round to face the other way like something from the exorcist.

mine sleeps in v odd positions that can't possibly be healthy! He ignores rats and squirrels completely but he's a JRT. I mean what's with that?

He once jumped into the car BEFORE I had opened the door. He bounced off looking a tad "uh what happened there?" and once the door was actually opened jumped in like nothing had happened.

He appears to think big animals (ie cows, horses) are just big dogs and his finest hour involved play bowing my parrot the other day, a move so ridiculously stupid (the parrot would win in a fight beak down!) that I actually fell of the sofa laughing.

Mine also makes bizarre pretzel shapes, sleeps upside down with legs akimbo and also grins/bares her front teeth when sleeping. It is quite unnerving.

Extremely H&S risk averse and does not like Things Where Things Should Not Be, men up ladders etc, the gardener parking his trailer on the lawn, things moved from one position to another (I blame this on lockdown when everything was The Same for months on end).
Is fine with things like fireworks, thunder and lightning, blank firing pistols, unstable/strange floor surfaces etc but is highly suspicious of flags.
Is fine with people on bikes/mobility scooters but a bike leaning against a wall or a parked scooter has to be cautiously perused in case it might kill her.

Given your pony your dog was never going to be entirely normal ?
