I have a 2 year old boxer x bull mastiff and last year she suddenly started hoping, we took her to vets and she had scans and everything done and the problem was she had damaged a part of the knee behind the tendon. The vet give a course of metacam IV and she was oral rhymidal this seemed to work and vet put of the op ans it ment cutting the healthy tendon

. About 3 months ago the treatment stopped working and she had the op, everything went well and she seemed to be recovering well

. Last week we noticed the other hind leg looked bad so off to the vets again and what do you know she has done the other knee and needs the same op on it

they can not do the op for at least 2 months as the 1st leg she done is not strong enough. Ap this is common in boxers and staffs. Does anybody have any experance am worried that she only just 2 and both legs have gone.

My rottie dog has had both his cruciate ligaments done and he was 2 in January. It hasn't done him any harm at all although he us still slightly lame on his most recent opped leg. If it will improve your dogs quality of life, which it surely will, then it has to be done.
Once they have been done does the vet think they will ever need doing again? Dexters are a oneoff thing so should last him his lifetime.

She has had theleft done and will be having the right one done as soon as the left is strong enough. The vet said it all varies on indviual some never need seeng to again some will go again to have problems. I was wondering if anyones dogs had this and how they went post op.

My rotti is on her 3rd week of recovery post cruciate repair.....she is doing very well, it's very common in big bouncy breeds, very common in rotti's

they are just to bloody bouncy for their own weight

It's pretty common for both to go, as the good one is over compensating on the weight for the leg in post op recovery.

My boss did my dogs op, she did say, there is a possibility for the same leg to rupture again, but rare, not as common as the opposite one rupturing, it's all in the strict rest and recovery.
My girl will be on a lead for some time to come
