I really like the wildlife on my land and have been feeding a regular fox visitor who my dog has so far disliked and chased off until tonight when he gave up. Its like he is so used to seeing this visitor he no longer sees it as a threat and last night when they just eye balled each other out. The fox has become less concerned about my dog, probably cos over the last couple of months its realised dooglie can't catch her.

The fox comes around about nine o'clock and the dog came downstairs at ten to nine almost as if he was waiting for her.

Anyway what surprised me was that the fox proceeded to eat her supper and the dog didn't seem to mind, just watched her from the sofa.

Is this normal or are they becoming accustomed to each other.

Anyone else's dogs have some kind of tolerance to wildlife.

Its like the fox and the hound :)

Mine have no such tolerance, but like with anything I imagine a period of exposure to anything would make a dog less likely to react. We need a photo of said fox please. Might be a brother of mine :p

Yep, probably just used to each other by now.
Just make sure he is jagged, wormed UTD as foxes can carry lungworm and other nasties (I can spot their poo and be ready to yell a mile off :p)

My dog just LOVES hares :p

Oh goody, your furry guest will give your dog free fleas, sarcoptic mange, lung worm..such a welcome and costly guest.

She's not a guest in the house though and he's never touched or been really close to her. He has all his jabs and maintenance things up to date aswell. He also goes no-where near her feed bowl.

In fact maybe I could slip some wormers etc in her feed.

Considering the fact that I am from a shooting family, I think I would be pretty annoyed if either of my terriers decided to buddy up with rats / rabbits / foxes.

But... each to their own. As others have said lungworm etc could be a problem. I hope none of your neighbours have chickens.

dont take this the wrong way but people like yourself who feed wild animals arent doing them a favour..your encouraging them to come more tame and remember the two little kids who got attacked by a fox..this could happen again or attack your dog
