So the rescue I got Dex from hold charity walks quite regularly. There are usually around 50 dogs on these things, so as you can imagine having a dog reactive dog in this setting is far from ideal (we have missed several as I don't think flooding with him helps).
So recently and with the help of his martingale headcollar he has been much less reactive to other dogs............ he tries to lunge hits headcollar gets a "LEAVE IT" and all is well..........
He got out of the car today and i was ready for the explosion.......... the screaming...... the foot stamping. It erm didn't happen.
He sauntered next to me through all these dogs like he'd done it for years, even the gobby GSD's did not make him react
EVERYONE was like " is that Dex?" lol Ok so the heat makes him a bit more subdued, but even so he mingled like a pro- so proud of my boy. Just goes to show that even if a dog is only getting decent handling/ training 3-4 days a week- they can improve.
Can not wait for the day I can have him living with me again...........
Usually the lunch stop is the worst time for Dex- he simply does not agree with stopping/waiting..... but he did this today (within spitting distance of at least 10 dogs) instead of screaming his head off- so proud of my boy!
