My dog wont eat

help, my dog will not eat, he is getting thin as a rake but still seems to enjoy going for a walk etc. he is15 yrs old and has kidney problems, does anyone know what i can do?

Hmm id suggest getting to the vets! Will he drink?

Vet cannot give any advice except to say give him what he wants to eat. he does drink but i wondered if anyone else had any experience of this as i know at this age anything could happen if you get my drift?

Well my old dog didnt want to eat, but she would eat somerfield finest (exspesive thingg ) chicken slices! I sat wuth er at the vets in her cage and fed them her!
She had diabetes my poor baby

I miss her so SO much!

did your old dog die from not eating. thats what i am scared of.

Just try lots of different things, Sardines in oil smell yummy to a dog, chicken, mince e.t.c

Dogs can get very fussy in old age. If she normally has dried food, I'd suggest adding natural yogurt to it, that may tempt her and is also good for her gut bacteria.

No no sorry i dont think that was the reason, I should have made taht obvous i am very sorry! We think it was the diabetes that got the better of her. But i dont think the not eating helped! She was a fit 12 yr old border collie normally mad, when she calmed down we took her straight to the vets although she hid her pain for so long it was kinda too late

at the age of 15 and not eating and with kidney problems i would take a vist to the vets to get him checked out
my cat had the same thing she didnt eat but drank alot and at the age of 16 and the vet had told that her kidneys had packed up we decided to put her to sleep as i could let myself watch her starve to death hope this doesnt happened to your dog
