So, we've been out to our friends' farm today with the Labs. Walking around the headland of one of the cornfields we came across a ewe and 5 lambs trampling the corn flat and generally behaving very badly, the lambs were not all hers obvs, she must be the black sheep of the flock (except she's white, but you know what I mean) and had rounded them up in order to lead them astray. We decided to usher them back to gate and return them to their field. Both Labs did not so much as turn a hair, neither were on a lead and they just walked beside us as the errant flock was rounded up and walked quietly to the gate. No attempt to chase even when the sheep began to jog and they stood their ground quietly when the old ewe turned and stamped her feet at us. We got to the gate and OH walked ahead to open it, the flock decided to plot their escape and turned to the left to make a run for it, our two year old Lab calmly, at walking pace, just stepped into their way and they turned and walked though the gate. Our 12 year old was guarding the right flank and between them they channelled them through the gate. Amazing. Or at least, I think so. Having saved the farm sheepdog a job we continued our walk and met a couple with a dog who had a complete meltdown when he saw our two. They were off the public right of way and so we stopped and showed them where to rejoin the path, their dog was snarling and taking a very aggressive stance and neither of ours even looked at it, never mind reacted. I am so proud of them today. They're having pilchards for tea so this evening will be windy 💨🟠but they deserve it. ðŸ¾ðŸ˜â¤ï¸
