My eBay rug- postage issue!

What do I do/say here...

Yesterday I bought a fly sheet cheaply on eBay, the postage was £4. I didn't desperately want it but would use it next summer as a replacement for the one daughters pony ripped- figured at that price may as well.
This morning I get a message saying the seller took it to post and had under charged postage- she requested an extra £8.95 before it will be posted!
As far as I'm concerned this isn't how eBay works, I underestimated postage recently but the deal is done so I had to cut my losses.
What would you say?
 
I would say that it's not your problem! You bought it with postage at £4, that's what you should pay and not a penny more!
 
pretty sure the price advertised for postage is what you pay unless its agreed beforehand! I would contact ebay and see what they say, def wouldn't be paying the extra 8.95, that was for them to find out before they advertised it :)
 
Royal mail have gone a bit mad with postage recently! You can ask ebay to just cancel the bid or ask her to courier it - myhermies is under £5 for small ish packages over 2kgs
 
I agree with the others, as she only charged £4 for postage then that is what you should pay IMO. I have accidentally undercharged on a lot of occasions for rugs etc (not sure how accurate the online estimator is...) and have never asked for extra as I should have taken it to the post office if I wanted 100% accuracy! Maybe do as polo's mum said and suggest her sending it by courier, that way she isn't losing a lot on it.
 
She can't change the advertised postage now. And she'll most definitely find cheaper postage than £8.95 if she tries.


Tell her you'll not pay more but will cancel the sale if she wants (assuming you're not that interested in the rug)

She actually asked for £8.95 extra on top of the £4 I already paid! Ive messaged her back and said im not going to pay her any more and that you cant change the listing or any detail of the listing after a sales been made- ebay rules etc. I also told her to just relist with correct postage. Yes id like it ideally but its not top of my must have list in late October!
Just need to get my money back now as I paid straight away.
