Hey guys,

took my two very active and young at heart jack russels out tonight - they run flat out! anyway, literally did a quick 20 min loop round the block and as we came near home we met another dog. pip is 13 and had a good old run round with him and then all of a sudden stopped and looked all off balance and strange and had a very wierd vacant expression on her face and didnt acknowledge anyone talking to her. anyway i was literally on the field at the back of my house so scopped her up and took her in, shes had a drink and is mooching about quietly now so looks ok. going to keep a close eye on her.

very scary experience, really thought she was having a stroke or heart attack or something. anyone had anything similar? I'm maybe thinking she just over did herself, she doesnt realise shes getting on in age and doesnt slow down!

May have been a wee fit? Or tweaked a nerve/muscle somewhere momentarily. I would expect a stroke to last a bit longer but I could be wrong. Fingers crossed it's nothing too serious.

Hi,
I hope it was just that she over did it! Sometimes our dog looks so old and grey and I worry so much, but other times he runs around like a mad thing and I think 'nah, there's life in the old dog yet!'

it did almost look like a semi sort of fit, shes certainly never done anything like that before. shes come in now and had a drink and took a treat and has hopped up onto the sofa by herself so hopefully shes fine, will be keeping a close eye out on her for tonight and in future for anything like it again.

really scary. I hate it that my dogs are getting older (the other is 15!) someone ought to tell them there getting on though, the pair of them are looneys!

Really keep an eye on her my old terrier we had did the same then all of a sudden seemed fine again, however about 3 to 4 days after he started been sick and not himself if walking around alot as if he was lost:( after a trip to the vets and bloods it turned out to be a stroke we tried him on meds but wePTS after a few days. Really dont want to worry you but maybe a trip to the vets for an MOT. Hope she is feeling better xx

oh gosh how awful for you. I must admit stroke or heart attack was the first thing that flashed into my mind when i saw her staggering about. I was terrified :-( although it was literally 30 sec-1 min then she seemed fine?

shes been right as rain tonight, hopping on and off the sofa fine and ive seen her drink and shes as keen as ever when the biscuit tin is opened! will be keeping a very close eye out and if anything at all seems amiss she will be straight off to the vets. the dog she was running around with was playing pretty rough - not agressive just barging each other about playing so I'm hoping it was just pip having done a bit too much/got knocked about a bit?
