My fall...and advice on riding hats if you please!!

I fell off my pony on Saturday! I am trying to get him to canter (he hasn't done it with someone on him before) and was seeing if he would do it on Saturday night. We had a few attempts and got a couple of strides as he got the idea. Decided for a couple more attempts, dipstick here lost her balance going round a corner and blacked out before hitting the ground. I woke up with a very sore head a few seconds later and a rather bemused pony trotting back over the see what the hell I was doing on the floor (he did get a bit anxious about his mum not moving!). Luckily I was with a couple of people who caught wonka and helped me up. From what I was told, I hit the deck head first. I wasn't going to go to hospital until I asked my friend whether I had fallen off. Her rather concerned response was "what do you remember" and I remember saying vaguely "trotting poles!!"

Anyway to cut a long story short, few hours in a&e I have bad concussion, not allowed to ride or drive until my head is sorted, got some spectacular bruises popping up all over the shop (I'm supposd to be going to Rhodes on Wednesday, bikini clad I will not be!) and I now need a new hat!

So, does anyone know the current regulations with regard to hat safety, and also give me a few ideas on what types people recommend? I had a jockey skull cap, and am probably looking for something in the region of £80 - £100. I have seen the champion vent ones and a few others but would appreciate views on how people get on with different hats!

My advise would be to go to a reputable saddlery that has a variety of hats and get a qualified hat fitter to fit one for you. I the Champion Ventiar hat is a good hat (I have one) but it might not necessarily fit your head, and that is what is most important.
 
sorry, meant to say I will be going to a qualified hat fitter as a matter of priority! I am just interested as to what others make of the hats that they have, especially if there are a couple that fit my head well and the decision may come on personal recommendations.
 
I have a Dublin Onyx, not as pricey as the range you have quoted but quite the most comfortable hat I have ever had. I find that it depends on your head size and shape as to what is best for you
