I just wanted to leave a little note to say not all farriers are bad, mine's from the Nottinghamshire area was only 15 mins late and I was pleased with that as most are normaly around 30 mins late. When he arrived I had only had my horse for around 2 weeks so didnt know what she was going to like as shes a cob and had never had shoes on before and I did explain all this too him. My farrier was brill unfortunatlly my horse was naughty! She just kept rearing up every 5 mins but he kept his cool while I was getting really mad with her. I know she wasnt being nasty as she never bolted once or kicked out or anything. It was slow motion, graceful rearing if there is such a thing. In the end he stood in front of her, waved his arms around and told her if she wanted to rear to just go on and get on with it, she was up and down and up and down about 3 or 4 times then stood there as good as gold for him, I couldnt believe it. I was bothered she was getting stressed but he said that she was just being naughty as inbetween the rearing she was happily eating her hay and if she was stressed she wouldnt be eating. It took him a little while longer than normal but got her feet sorted and put 4 new shiny shoes on. I was really impressed he managed to keep his cool. Hes due to come back in the middle of Nov so Im hoping she will be good for him.
