hi all. my 9 1\2 month colt had his first ever farrier visit today. wasnt expecting much as he is very nervous with everybody except me. when he met my farrier he was bouncing all over the place and didnt lie him to touch him. my farrier took th lead rope spent 5 quiet miniutes with him talking to him softly and stroking his face. he then slowly moved down my boys front leg and lifted it up and began the trim. he tried to pull away but he held on to his foot and my colt never made a fuss again all four feet paired back. nice to see a farrier take a gentle kind approach. :). for the first time we managed to get a look at his private bits to see if he was ready to be gelded aand found he hadnt dropped yet. thumbs up all round

Its nice when meet someone who just has a way with your animals and trusts them. My farrier always has the same old apron/chaps and always tells me my horse can smell the other horses and is really calm type chap. ie never rushes the horse etc.

But I bet you are relieved as another step taken in a positive direction good luck with him(& the farrier)!
