Hey folks :)

You've always been so helpful in the passed so i thought i'd run my lil predicament passed you & see if anyone hopefully has any tips!!

I have a TB (George) he's very very fine :D - i have had several horses... only trying to find the right "first horse" i hasten to add lol - they have all been thick to mid set, i keep loosing my balance when we trot & feel like i'm going to tip off him - eek! - i feel like i'm all over the place & i'm tring to sit deep but feel like a rag doll!! how can i sort my balance - he feels like riding a banister by comparison

his condition has improoved massivley since i've had him (only 2 weeks) & he's sooo pampered & content - i dont really know what i'm asking lol ... i've not hacked him out yet as i was trying to suss the bouncy bear in the school first so my ass isnt across the motorway bridge!! he is sooo different from anything i've ever ridden - i assume you just get used to it??

our school is very uneven & literally a small grass paddock so that doesnt help either...

any tips - RI is already orgnised lol :o

it sounds like he's just a different sort of horse to what you've ridden previously and that it'll take you time to get used to him. If he's TB (compared to more native or heavier types) his trot is likely to be very different.

try trotting standing in your stirrups, using his neck to balance if you need to, with your weight dropping into your heels and trying not to grip with your lower leg. Once you've got the rhythm go back to rising trot.

try to keep the trot steady and balanced too - if he's rushing you'll loose the rhythm and make it harder to stay in balance.

and get lots of lessons in to help you (though it sounds like you've got that in hand already)

Good luck with the galloping!! I can feel every footstep with my TB...

I agree with the above. You need an instructor to help you 'learn' how to ride your new horse.

A pic would be nice :D
