At lot of you here will know the story of Shadow and how he was on loan till I got here in Exeter. We have come through so much and i love him to the moon and back. I would do anything for this horse, but im being sooooooo bogged down with work (the reason why i loaned him in the first place although that went wrong) and have been offered the opportunity of a lifetime (to do some work in the US! for six months or Yeovil if id prefer lol) I feel i cant keep moving him round and i cant afford schooling livery for 6 months i also dont know anyone who could have him for me. Mum has not got the time (she works 50hours a week) and my boyfriend is coming with me. This means i will have to sell. I would loan to the right home but after the last time i dont want to spend the year after sorting out problems again...
So the question is, how much is he worth?

Hannovarian x ID (King of Diamond Bloodlines)
5 (rising 6) and currently 16hh
Affiliated BD
Working well at novice - has counter canter, rein back, leg yield shoulder in etc
Super in traffic hacks alone or in company
Jumps 2.9 easy but still green as im not great at jumping
Always in the ribbons
Excellent feet, never had foot issues
No vices
Ridden in a snaffle for everything! And can be ridden by a complete novice if they just want a plod. Never bolts but can buck if held back when other horses are galloping.
Will include Cliff Barnsby bridle, Wintec Pro saddle, 5 rugs (thermatex, rhino, fal etc)

Soo how much for my well loved boyo... please if you have horrible comments keep them back as this is heartbreaking for me...

Always find this difficult but I'd say about £6000 if he is getting good marks in his dressage and happy to jump. If he has points and goes well xc prob. more
They seem to be around £10000 if they have any form in BE and have potential

He looks a lovely sort and what a view

If he is as easy as you say, then you could probably get in excess of £8k. Difficult to say from just seeing one pic. Lovely horse - what a shame you can't keep him.

Thanks guys. I am shocked at the prices you are coming up with, i was hoping £3.5 lol, im obviously out of the loop with selling backed horses. He really is easy to do- you can sleep in his stable with him. He is in a KK ultra even for jumping full courses (but needs martingale) Comes to call in the field. Loves people and has never ever bolted with me even in the biggest of fields. Only has one pint BD (in two outings) so that may reduce the price. Id love to keep him but cant take him to the US!
Also whats the best website. Im leaving end of April so need to sell within 6 weeks

I wish I had the money as he is just exactly what I would be buying, have been looking about recently at potential dressage horses for me and would expect to pay 7-9k for him...

Very sorry for you - maybe the consolation will be working over in the US which may put selling him to the back of you mind once you are there.

I wouldn't like to estimate how much but check prices for similar horses in h&h and horsemart to get an idea - he is still pretty young so lots and lots more to give.

Good luck with it all.

He looks really lovely. If I was in the position of being able to afford another horse he would be just the type for me. It is such a shame to sell. If he is everything you say it is hard to find such horses at a reasonable price. I really feel that 8K would be very reasonable.

HorseQuest is where to go to look for quality horses (buy on horsemart, sell on HorseQuest.... if you know what you're doing. The other way round is the ghastly option if you don't, and buy something you can't handle and have to sell to whoever'll get you out of the mess)

but given your horse is such a star, I'd go for HorseQuest every time- far higher quality of horses

What a shame just as things were going so well...
I would put him on horsemart or H and H at £5500 and accept five.
If you price him higher you may not get anyone looking, but we find that price brings in lots of calls.
Our last horse sold to the first to view and we had five more waiting to come and see him.
I would also ask your instructor, she knows loads of people and may recommend someone withou the bother of advertising him at all.

hi
i know you seem to have made the decision to sell however i just wanted to say that it is possible to go away for 6 months and keep your horse. i did it and left a 'friend' looking after them - needless to say she let me down after a few months and i was thrown into panic as i was 3500 miles away! have you considered seeing if a equestrian college or something will take him on loan ??

good luck and have a fab time in the USA!!! which part are you going to? i spent my 6 months there in Connecticut.
