Oh hon, sounds like you had a real bad case of stage fright.
Oh bless you, sounded like you and boggers would have given the opposition what for too.
HUGS!
Get entering the next one and get someone to read the test for you.

Hiya, Just wanted to say that I took mine to Kingswood on Sun. (1st outing for months) and he spent the first 10 mins doing small rears/spooks and spins in the warm up. Once he got in the ring it was better but I did keep saying to my trainer and all who came with me 'can I get off!' so I can sympathise. All I keep telling myself was it's first time out and can't get worse!!

Ah, well done anyway!!!
I'm normally fine till bout half way down the centre line then I think 'sh*t, which way do I go?'!!!!!
You'll do fine next time!!!
Caller is always good, if it goes wrong u always blame them!!! hehe!

Never mind, look on it as a trial run, with the proper outing being the next one!
Why not take some bach rescue remedy next time and give some to you and your horse?
The best technique I know for overcoming nerves is to start a week prior to the competition. every night in bed visualise the whole day from start to finish running smoothly. Imagine any problems such as spooking and exactly how you will calmly deal with them.
Move on to finishing your test, leaving the arena, and the feeling of satisfaction you will have.
By the end of the week you should be able to run through the whole day without any worries or fear, and amazingly it works on the day after that, your brain sort of goes into automatic mode.
Try another comp as soon as you can, stop worrying, the worst that happens has already happened in a way, so you should be able to ride the test through next attempt.
The best of luck, now go and start imagining your successful day!

ah so that's why chumsmum was at Rod on Sunday, let us know when you're there next as we keep our horses there. Mine was the lorry being jump started on Sunday morning! They are doing some walk and trot tests as well did you know, they might be better to have a play with? I'm going in them with Pidge so at least you won't come last

Hi henryhorn

Thanks for the sound advice I shall certainly give that a go! My brain space had been pretty much filled up with all the other stuff a first timer has to think about and left the 'test' in the "It will be alright box" which didnt work lol!

I will certainly ride more positively and be more of the attitude nothing will happen and if it does I CAN deal with it better.

You could always blame it on Chumley, I'm sure he spooked at a tractor at that exact minute you entered the ring

I really wouldn't worry at all a wise person once told me this about horse shows and I always remember it as a great piece of advice:

'Any show with a horse where everyone who goes, returns with all their limbs intact(including horse), should be considered a success!'

Hello
grin.gif
been there since the beginning of August, facilities are fab
grin.gif

Yes I might complete a test but try convincing Pidge that there is no canter in a walk and trot test

Lorry is fine now thanks to 2 new batteries, credit card is complaining though
