Ok, so I have a spare stable in my small very private yard in West Sussex which I'm *thinking of renting out and doing an advert for- how much should I charge? for assisted/part livery? I would be happy to do mornings/help as necessary. I would want to include haylage in the price too.
Theres use of a 20x 50 floodlit school, off road riding however very limited turnout in winter so suit another competition preferably DR/show horse really that doesn't need much turnout.
Any help/suggestions /info on prices /finding the right people/advertising you can give would be much appreciated because I've not been in this position before!

Many thanks.

I would charge about £45-£50 per week for this.
At my last yard we had an indoor and Hayledge for £40 a week but you are offering assister turnout and use of off road hacking..

Not trying to put a damper on anything but you could be venturing into choppy waters here. You really need public liability insurance and if the taxman ever finds out, you should be declaring your additional income. That's just for starters. There's a ton of other stuff to think about too, such as business rates, change of use etc etc - ask any YO on the Forum! Coz that's what you'd be, a YO, however small! Good luck x

Many thanks for the advice- I've not said that I wouldn't declare any additional income!- it all has to be above board and legitimate, with contracts in place as well. I already have public liability insurance in place, and the premises are insured too. I don't for believe that I'm entering into choppy waters as as long as I do my research and homework well- which is what I am doing, and do things properly , I don't think there should be a problem.

I'm sure there are many in my situation! maybe I should have explained a bit more in my original post.

Basically you charge what people will pay so it very much depends on what other places charge around you and what are you are in. Atm where I am I pay £41.50 a week for assisted DIY (basically DIY but turnout in the morning). However I'm moving 20minutes down the road after xmas to somewhere less "posh looking" and they only charge me £18 a week for the same. Both have school and off road hacking and all year round turnout.

We are in the same situation - have just agreed to take on 2 diy liveries and am in the process of sorting out Public liability insurance. Have agreed £25 per wk to include stable/turnout/menage/hacking direct from yard onto common, but as we are based on the welsh/shrops border cannot expect south east prices!
Have advertised in local tack shops and RC website, although mine have come through word of mouth and recommendation.
Memo - do you need 'care and custody' for DIY, and also what does it offer?
