Horse was at kilmanahan event last sunday with trainer, as i am stuck revising and not allowing myself to event
So dressage, not bad but not great either, got a reasonable 39.5 which was average in class (still havent found "his" bit yet - any suggestions? he dosent take a strong snaffle as tends to back off, is currently in mullen happy mouth), lowest was 30.2 and there was a fair few in class around 37 - 40 so ok. What was weird was that is the score i normally get on him, so at least its not just down to my shoddy riding
Showjumping on horrible side of hill, with the amount of rain weve have here over past 2 weeks was very slippy and sticky in places. Jumped sweetly to just have one down.
Xc was strong for novice, its hunting country so think big ditches and lots of banks
Trainer really impressed by him, "a flying machine, didnt look at anything" his words not mine! so over moon for him to go clear and in the time
So finished up 8th, out of a class of 30 i though was rather good!
considering he has only ridden him 10 times or so
But trainer had such a good time on him he now wont give him back
he wants to finish the rest of spring season on him and the *maybe* hand him back
"Tell (me) that she can ride him up here (at his yard) and il look after him"
He is eventing him this weekend again
pro pic - now i *think* this is merlin, i really couldnt be sure as i find it very hard to find him - easier when has my red over reach boots

and just to show you the size of the ditches
