My first ever report, with a hat cam video!

firstly, brill report and well done! :)

however - The camera is brill!! a company was hiring them out for £20 at an event I went to recently and had to restrain myself from hiring one, Iv watching a couple on YouTube of Pro's doing big courses and think its just fantastic! I (stupidly) hadnt thought about looking to bguy one myself ( I suppose I thought they would be expensive?!!) but after reading this I think Im going to treat myself to
THIS!!! after all...it is less (just :p) than hiring the cameras and well, the training benefits...:o;)

What a fantastic report, the vid is sweet :D:D your horse rides like mine a bit, open the throttle steady up, jump open the throttle again, you have a super horse and lovely to hear you encourage him all the way round what a great partnership

I got mine for about £20 on groupon

I need to learn to trust mine like you have. He prefers to jump from a very forward stride and I try to hold him up too much. He then gets annoyed.

When I do let go i get a much better jump and feeling.

I'm gonna try and do what you have :)

Thanks!
My camera is the GoPro HD Hero it was 200 quid, but it was a Xmas present off my brother.
But it is ace, I love mine!

Thank you :)
It's great when you can go up and down the gears with them isn't it, so much fun to be able to open up like that!

Yours sounds exactly like mine, if I try and hold him up too much he just goes sideways into fences which gets a little hairy!

It took time for me to trust him, but now we have formed that partnership there is no better feeling than going xc fast and furious!!!!

Go for it, you won't look back :D

What a brilliant report and video - I really enjoyed watching it!

I could learn a lot from it, I tend to hold on a bit too much xc and then not get such a forward horse, and it ends up jumping deep and awkward! It looks like you had so much fun, and I loved watching your boys ears :D

I loved that video - I literally crapped myself the whole way through! Felt like it was me!

I am such a wuss!

Very brave!

Absolutely brilliant!!
That video has given me itchy feet, I want to get back out onto the XC course!

Lovely to hear all your praise for him too :)

Fab :D

So pleased i've inspired some of you guys to get back into xc, or have a go.

Im at a hunter trial next weekend so will post the hat cam vid for that too, smaller class than at Eland as they only go up to 2'9'' at this venue, but wanted another xc run before the E.Lympics team ODE at Eland on the 17th. Anyone else going to that?

Lovely report, but being a bit of a chicken about leaving the ground, I feel a bit sick watching the video! Seriously, great footage.

Great video! I love your horse, he looks amazing :D

Very jealous, those jumps looked like so much fun, its a shame I'm scared to go faster than a trot in an open field really

The field thing is work in progress :P I find that its a lot easier when I actually remember to breathe and loosen my death grip on the reins!

Private cross-country lessons here I come! :D

LOL! Death grip - made me giggle.

You know, before I got my boy I was terrified of xc. But with his help and starting out small, i've managed to get to a point now where my confidence is sky high.

I would love to move up to the 1m classes, as he finds xc at 90cm all too easy but my confidence isn't quite there with the showjumping yet. But it will come, we are a work in progress!! :D

Fantastic video which I must admit I've now watched a few times and loved your commentary and your boy gunning it at a gallop at the end. Really inspires me to want to get over my silly jumping phobia and go out and give it a go as I feel like I'm missing out on some seriously good fun.
By the way do you give lessons to those of us who are jumpaphobics? I'm available to take lessons from you as soon as I've got superglue, Valium and a shot of vodka to hand :D

Bills, that was as exciting as watching Camelot win the Derby today. Honestly! That hat cam is brilliant. As is your fabulous horse. And you. Those jumps looked well solid. And done so fluidly. Absolutely stonkingly well done.

I was exactly like that too - fine XC but a nervous wreck SJ!

Lovely video. We got my stepson a hatcam for Xmas last year but have never used it yet - we always forget it!

I've always wondered what Eland was like, now I know! Just got to get myself going again - not jumped for nearly three years on the mare I used to event and a bit nervous!

Fabulous!

Thank you :D

What hat cam do you have? Ive got a veho muvi cam - tiny thing but works well

I have the GoPro, really good quality videos.

You really should get your hat cam out, well worth it.
And you should definitely get out eventing again, start small and build on that, it's how I got my confidence going.

Lovely, he can shift can't he!! Loved how you talked to him xx

He sure can, my little pocket rocket lol!
I actually think he listens too!!
