Jumped B both days at the weekend as I had people up to see him.
Saturday he was good, popped a cross pole twice and then jumped it as a straight (about 1ft 6 - thats the highest we're doing at the mo) He took a flying leap at the straight and I'm sure he gave it plenty air as it felt like a big jump, comfortable tho and I managed to stay with him.
The on sunday, he was a little stiff as he'd been hanging about on the yard for a while, getting shod and then waiting as the farrier bent my ear!
So started slow and warmed him up. Then popped a cross pole from a trot. He wasnt all the together over it, I felt like I was jumping it before him. So got them to put it up, and cantered the approach to it. Again he did a flying leap over it! I kept the canter going and came round to it again, this time, as we turned into the jump he took off and raced at it! I sat back, and tryed to slow/turn him. Managed to slow him, but not turn. By the time we got to the jump we were right at the wing, and he jumped it from practically a stand still!!!
He jumped me out the saddle!
(thankfully not onto the floor tho! just onto his neck!
) I totally suprised myself by not feeling at all scared by it and took him at it again, in a trot, went into canter as we turned into the jump, me sitting up and deep in the saddle, then let him go just before the jump and he flew it again.
I didnt really think about it at the time, but I'm so pleased with myself!! Not only was I not put off by B tanking into the jump, but I took him back at it again, and actully rode him into the jump, rather than leaving it all up to him!! I felt like a proper jumper! lol!!
I think B is sencing my growing confidence before I'm sencing it and so is just giving me a bit more of a 'ride'! lol!
