My friend had an accident today, she was schooling her mare and she just spooked, reared up, went over backwards and landed on my friend. Friend was knocked out but regained consciousness to find mare rolling around on top of her trying to get up. Both managed to get up though.

Horse is fine other than a small cut on her knee.
Friend spent a few hours in hospital but just managed to get bruising. Lucky, lucky girl!

Sorry, pointless post. Still shaking thinking about it :(

Goodness how horrible for all of you  Not pointless, as not nice to witness, possibly worse in some ways than living it, as you see the potential horror.

Agree..sometimes worse witnessing an accident than being in it so to speak..but thank god you were there & cld help your friend.

Oh my word. You must both have been terrified! So glad your friend is ok. Maybe you could talk her into wearing a body protector. As they say every little helps
Hugs to both of you

i was in the same situation last week. friend of mine was schooling, horse reared over backwards, she got the reins twised around her neck and started to get dragged. no on was there, dont know how she got away but was found walking up the lane with blood pouring out of her head. still shook up thinking about it. hope your friend is okay, big hugs

Very nasty for you, I was riding behind a friend of mine having a lovely canter when her horse got distracted tripped stumbled and rolled straight over, she went right under neath him. The three of us behind her stopped immediately and we all though she would be fatally injured, she got up dusted herself down and went to check the horse ! She had some nasty bruses but we were far more shaken up by seeing it than she was - I still to this day have no idea how she walked away - can only think the saddle cantle held his weight off her.

It's very nasty to witness an accident - take care of yourself.

Thank you all for your replies, she is fine, just a little sore this morning.
She also does wear a body protector (probably why no broken bones), she rode again straight after but was in tears from shock and pain!

Thank you for everybody wishing them both well, i'll pass on your regards. xx
