My friend is upset but how much please?

...have asked her if she is scared of him, says no but could be pride. I think she just lacks the confidence to bring him on, i think she is capable but she is worried she will ruin him. I suppose he has bene her life for 6 yrs and she wants everything to be perfect.

I know you arent wasting a horse if he doesnt know better, but he deserves to be doing something.

Hmmm - in that case I think perhaps selling him would be a good idea. Sorry to do a complete about turn, but if he is very young and she is also inexperienced, and she is also a bit worried about what he is capable of, then she does really need to assess the best options. Saying that he is capable of more and should sell him probably makes her feel better than saying she wants to sell him because he frightens her a bit. Sometimes a horse can behave perfectly, yet the rider just does not feel safe on them - this may be the case.

Perhaps some lessons and an instructor who is happy to climb on board and do some schooling before your friend gets back on?

Yeah good idea!

When I first met her she said how much experience she had, working at a stud, with stallions and helping to break youngsters, but I think she has realised perhaps her skills arent quite as good as she thought, i hope that doesnt come across as nasty, I dont mean it that way!

The thing is she is good enough capability wise to bring him on herself, its more a confidence issue I think.
I think she would benefit from smoeone doing the training side and she can just get out and show him a bit of the world hacking, like I said its money though, she cant afford to pay anyone.

she sent him away to be broken in because she couldnt get a bridle on him (before I joined the yard) and he has been going well, but what horse wouldnt be getting bored at this stage.

he wants to learn, and will end up being bitter I think.

tell your friend that Pidge plays rough in the field with Sunny, he broncs, bucks and stands vertical on a daily basis, however in the 18months I've had him he has never reared and only once done a buck with me and that was when a horse charged at him and I think he was protecting himself and me.

I do think she will be abl t find someone to ride him...put an ad in your local tack shop, something like

"Free rides offered for competitive person"
