My Gelding causing problems with mares!

Anyone got any advice on how to stop my gelding being a pain with mares? I have recently moved him to a new yard were there are more horses than he is used to seeing, he is currently being turned out alone until he settles in, but has twice this week got himself in a terrible state galloping around because there are mares in the fields around him!

Will he get used to it, or is it better to find a boy only area?

Give him some company - which is probably the reason for his hysteria..........

Yeah I would try and give him company and see if that helps.

My boy is a nightmare with the mares and the only way we have found to tackle the issue is by having him in a herd of geldings and having the mares in a separate field away from the gelding field.

He has a new friend now a little yearling colt called herbie and he seems a bit happier, still paces a bit along the fence but hopefully he will settle. I just hope he doesn't now get separation anxiety from herbi as we had that problem with my sisters horse who sadly had to be put down in May, he's been known to throw himself over a five bar gate before now!
