My Mérens colt is now 20 months old and is going through (yet another) growth spurt.

Thankfully this means his withers (now that he actually has some!) are catching up with him bum.

As far as I can see he is definitely going to take after his dad who is very big for a Mérens (160cm vs 150cm average).

He really is a complete joy. I'm so pleased I took the plunge and bought a foal, rather than a "ready made" 3yo... even if I do hear all the time "when are you going to start riding him"

He's lovely and I haven't heard of the breed before either. I just had to google them:)
I guess they are the same hight and build wise as the english dales pony? My youngster is 21 months today and it's great watching them grow and change.

Hi, I am so glad to hear that I am not the only nutter in UK to have a Merens!!! I have a 5.5 year old Mare and I am looking for another Merens or a Camargue, both of which are very hard to find. :D
