Its getting v.annoying now sliding down - is there anything I can line it with to pad it out? I got some of those stick on thingies from the tack shop, (look like panty liners

) used all 4 and its still too big! Its only 6 7/8ths! Felt perfect when I tried it.
 
Is it a beagler or skull? If its a skull then l suggest you buy another that fits its not really very safe to have a fall with a hat that doesnt fit,not that l am suggesting you are going to fall off!!! : ))
 
Did you get it fitted? I made the mistake of buying a new hat off the internet and just ordered my usual size in the GR8. I liked the idea of it being lightweight and low profile. It seemed fine to start with and then I had the same problem as you in that it started to slide around. In particular, my mare tripped in the school one night and I felt it move and it made me realise how unsafe it actually was. I went into Rideaway the next week assuming that somehow I now needed a smaller size hat (do heads get smaller LOL! - slightly worrying thought but could explain a lot

) - I tried billions on and eventually got a completely different style hat the H2000 - much more traditional looking but in exactly the same size. I naively thought that all hats were pretty similar and it was just a case of picking the right size but there is obviously loads more to it than that and picking one that suits the shape of your head is really important. I've put it down to an expensive mistake and would never buy a hat off the internet again. I think unfortunately you might have to chuck your current hat too and get another one fitted.
 
I brought a new hat a few weeks ago had it all fitted and everything then last week I has my hair cut had quite a lot of layers put in so its a lot thinner and now my hat is too big!!

Is it that you have gone for a different style of Hat? Skulls tend to fit round shaped heads & Riding hats tend to fit oval heads, so if you had always had a skull & now you have gone for a hat you could find that you have more room front to back, if that makes any sense!, for instance I have an oval head & use a riding hat so it fits! if I try a skull by the same manufacture in the same size its to small because its tight front to back, but then I can rock the skull from side to side because I don't fill it out at the sides, obviously for safety reasons that's just as bad as slipping over your eyes, either way if you hit the ground the hat will not be in the right place at the right time! having spent a few years fitting them, you really would not believe how heads very in shape, & hats! Also your head stops growing by the time you about 5 years old! (So all mums out there go for the hat your child says is to tight in the shop, because they will not grow in to the more comfy one! The padding will go down with in a month or two, so you could well end up with ill fitting hat that will not protect them in a fall)

Mine fitted brilliantly, was nice and snug for oh 8 months, then when summer came and it got sweaty its like the padding shrunk

Is a wee bit embarrassing when I get asked why its there!

Ask in a tack shop. They have stick on foam strips to help with hat fitting. Can also get similar for bike helmets I think.

In the winter you could wear a buff underneath it. ( one of those thin hat / hood things that you can arrange in different styles)
 
now I can just picture someone unknowingly walking around with a pantyliner stuck to their forehead when they take their hat off.....PMSL

Personally the cycle helmet foam bits would suit me best as I dont find the need to carry a pantyliner!! LOL
 
You can get hat padding (sticky backed foam as mentioned above) on a roll and the maximum number of layers is two/three, any more and your in the wrong size hat. I fit riding hats and I tend not to put more than two layers at certain points around the head.

I popped in the local tack shop at weekend and got some of this, much better now I can see where I'm going, lol
