He has never ever done anything like that, ever ever and he is normally the most placid, perfect gent but not only did he bite me this morning, and broke the skin, he tanked off TWICE! What the hell has someone done with my boy, replaced him with another?? Then, he stood perfectly still, as if butter wouldnt melt, for his new shoes to be fitted??? Err hello?? I havent seen him since Sunday (sharer had 2 days) can they really get cross about that???

LOL no! but I'm sure there will be people on here who like to project their human emotions onto their horse and will say that yes he's mad cos he hasn't seen you in a whole 2 days

I she maybe a little bit amorose with the ladies at the moment? It can make geldings a little fiesty when they are not usually so.
 
ah now that did cross my mind especially as one of the mares was rather flirting with him and he was in a different part of the field - with head over fence saying hi - mind you said mare looked like she is already in foal (and isnt!)
 
I wouldn't be so sure about that! Perhaps it's not cross but magnus gets annoyed/jealous if I lead another horse in if he's coming in to. But who knows if it's because he loves me or he wants food or perhaps its beacause I'm the only one who doesn't hassle him walking in! lol I say it's 'cause he love me

My horse bit my mother the other day - it didnt break the skin but it was hard enough to leave a mark through her coat ! I'm still not sure why she did it, as Mum wasnt doing anything but holding her while i did my stirrups.
 
I think it's cos he regards you at a certain level in the pecking order.

As for your boy leaning over the fence at the mare who looks like she could be pregnant, beggars can't be choosers as they say or maybe it's more love is in the eye of the beholder

My young mare bit me really hard on my arm over the stable door one day when I was preparing my other youngster for a day out hunting. She has never done anything agressive to me before or since but quite often bickers over the door at other horses.
As much as I would like to think it was jealousy, I think she was aiming for him and got me or just decided I was another horse to bicker with and I'm not a tough as her normal recipients.
Reading other posts on here at the min and going by my horses behaviour right now I bet it's yet another case of the summer high jinx epidemic that is sweeping the nation!
 
My horse bit me once but thats cause i fed the other and missed him out and he gave me a right telling off lol
 
Is everything checked? Sore teeth/mouth in particular can send the sweetest horse 'grumpy'. I'd make sure he isn't in any pain if it carries on, or he might just have been having an 'off' day and it might not happen again. Hope so!
 
Whoever says that animals don't experience jealousy or don't miss you... you haven't seen my dogs!!!

My two tiny dogs FIGHT due to jealousy, and yet they stick to each other (when one was naughty and goes into the crate, the other one will patiently wait by the crate!!!). They get jealous when one gets petted and cuddled but not the other. Everyone says that they don't behave like dogs but two kids, bro & sis who sometimes hate each other but really, they do love each other.

When I only had one dog, OH and I went on holiday and left my dog with his family. This was the first time I ever left him alone with someone else. They sent us pictures of him to update us, and the pics looked more and more like ransom pics... he seemed really sad!!! When we got back, he looked at me and froze, closed his eyes and opened it again quickly... and THEN ran to me as if he was all excited that I actually came back for him. Nowadays, he knows I do... so he isn't really all that bothered anymore.

Mind you, everyone thinks I do tend to attract quite eccentric pets!!!
