I entered a local in-hand show with my 4 year old. Everything was going great and she had entered a class, came second and was behaving perfectly considering this was her first show. Nearing the end, as we prepared to enter the last class, some woman cantered her 18hh horse past mind right by her rear. And when I say right by I mean I could have barely fit my arm in the gap. My horse kicked out, which she has never done before and the woman went mental at me calling her a vicious kicker who should be put down! I was shocked. I told her I was sorry my horse kicked out but she shouldn't have been that close especially not cantering by which is against the rules anyway?! OK so rant over, just wanted to know how you guys would feel if it was you.

I'd be quite offended! Its the woman's fault for cantering so close to your horses rear! Your Horse must of spooked and then kicked out to protect you and herself. It's not your fault. Didn't you report what happened?

She is such a sweetie would never kick if she didn't feel threatened! And yes, we knew the owner of the yard where the show was held and she spoke to the woman afterwards. Really annoys me I dont know what she expected from a 4 year old!

i know right! She should go back to stage 1 in riding ;)

She was cantering bareback in a place where there were lots of unknown to her horses. What a prize twonk ;)

You did the best thing by not rising to it. You know you neither you nor your horse were in the wrong, and she'd have been the type to argue the sky is green, no point wasting amy energy on her. Glad you beat her ;)

I know silly cow haha! funny thing is I was not too bothered about where we came just went to give my horse the experience, but I have to say beating her made my day lol

She sounds like a twit. I'm all for horses having to deal with stuff, but usually the rule is no cantering in walkways between rings anyway.

Sorry but I see this whole scene as a fabrication by someone that wants to post a thread.

(I'm aware of the intrinsic hypocrisy of this post. Cue vicious circle!) :D

RE: Original issue though, these types of people are usually more trouble than they're worth, well done for not unleashing fury!
