Pointless self indugent post but I must share my joy, my co workers don't appreciate my horse stories. Anyhow since we've moved yards I've been befriended by Sue who has her event horse there on livery and one in for schooling, we're there at the same time in the morning and usually have a laugh while mucking out. I've sat on the youngster for her because shes not had anyone else ride and she'll be advertised soon. Anyway after Ryu had his shoe back on last week she helped me free school him to check he was sound and she was impressed by his paces, she said she wanted to see me ride his massive trot. So last night she hung around while I was schooling, I can honestly say that in 15 minutes she transformed his way of going, and increased my confidence 10 fold. She said he is simply not going forwards and I've been riding with the handbrake on, so she chased us a bit to open Ryu up so I coukd get a feel for how he should be going, and wow what a difference, he felt 100% freer and lighter and seemed to grow a hand higher, I could see him physicaly lift up at the front and my friend who was in the arena too couldn't believe Ryu was almost flicking his toes, it was fab

but at the same time felt like I'm been mincing round for the past 12 months blocking Ryu into a pretty picture outline which has just p*ssed him off and frustrated me. She told me to release my riens 2 inches as I've been getting him overbent and his outline is more like a adv medium than a novice one

The trot I got felt massive but Sue said hes scraping a working trot if that!

I can honestly say its the most pleasureable schooling session I 've ever had and I was walking on air at the potential I saw, just need to get it again now..........

Will try and get some photos x

That's wonderful for you both, don't think about what you haven't done, no point doing that, think about what's laying in store for you both.

Lovely to have someone like that to be with on the yard.
