I mean wide I just tried the standard type of girth.

Wide is different to thick, for sure. It's all about starting with a basic shape of girth that suits your horse, and there is no standard type. If you can post photos of your horse tacked up, or give us more information on what girths you've tried, and what sort of shape your horse is (forward girth groove, very narrow, those sorts of things, as well as what sort of girth size, and whether your saddle needs "help" from a girth for any kind of stability) then we can help you more.

Have a look at this for some ideas of shapes https://shop.mattes-equestrian.com/girth-shapes-and-how-to-measure-correctly
