so i was up the yard today sitting with taz dozing next to me then i get my biscuits out, and he mugs me for them not out of the norm, but its not just biscuits.. we were at a show and i had a bacon sandwich i put it on the wheel arch and he ate it when i wasnt looking :S he eats cake, cream, toffee, tries to mug me for chrisps and chips but i wont let him, he will eat anything im eating a cheese and onion sandwich the other day and he takes a chunk out of that and oh yeah ice cream he likes that too

is this normal? and does anyone else have a horse that eats stuff he shouldnt?:o

A local family of excellent horsewomen had a Connemara that was famous for eating every sandwich ever produced at Pony Club just spat out the tomato skins when everything else was gone.

I had a Conn/ID who ate banana skins and drank Coke out of a bottle , you couldn't leave one down anywhere , he gave most things a fair go.
I could never get him to take any medicine in his feed though

I remember getting a mince pie as a prize in an u/a dressage comp and Olly nicked it! He also loves bacon and egg butties, rice krispie squares, and bonios!

Our horses like most fruit, one likes banana with skin on, the other prefers them peeled, my gelding likes a cup of tea with milk and sugar and slurps it,
they both like most veg and toast and marmite goes down a treat

My friend's horse likes the remainders of pot noodles. Mine likes my hair very much, but more likes to lip at it than actually eat it.. maybe he likes my conditioner?! He doesn't like apples though.. and doesn't really know what treats are. Strange hoss.. But bacon sandwich?! that's very weird! :p xx

I have a few who eat anything one liked onions and i have three meat eaters :o who if given the chance like a chomp on sausage rollls pies sandwiches.
I will not sunbathe in the field for fear of being eaten alive ha ha although i have a very bolshy one and the next door farmer came to get me to tell me he was shaking a baby lamb around in his mouth:eek:

I ran down to the field to find him he had a white piece of plastic in his mouth he was playing with phew, i apologised to him for even thinking this, but a few weeks later i found him playing with and carrying round a dead rabbit in his mouth and he did not want to let go i am sure he just picked it up but euurgh.

The old Appy loved cheese and onion crisps, half coated digestive biscuits and Idris Ginger Beer, she would also steal coffee and tea, if they had milk and sugar in them :D
The Current Appy eats the bread off hot dogs and burgers, steals mince pies and buns and deliberately knocks alcoholic drinks held by anyone holding her so that she can slurp the spillage from their hand, she is very keen on gin :D
She will also drink water out of a bottle (not tried her with anything else!)

I used to have a horse that liked to drink coke out of a can.

Kelsi thinks that any food that is not horse food must contain poison and that you are trying to kill her but yesterday she ate a gingerbread man and then stole one out of my OHs hand!

Saffy likes anything that we eat or the farrier is eating! She likes tea, doughnuts and biscuits.
