My horse got kicked today

Poor thing has just come in with a kick mark on his chest, it is quite swollen & there is a fair bit of heat in it. I have hot & cold compressed & put arnica on, any other tips to ease the pain? Luckily hes a big cob and is out with little TB types, so I don't think its too serious.

Sorry... but we both know it'd stop any cob feeling pain

Have you got any of the arnica tablets? They're pretty good painkillers for swollen bits and pieces on horses.

Ha ha yeh hes had extra apples for tea tonight

Hes on bute anyway (for something completely unrelated) so that will help too. He's usually good at keeping out the way!

Poor horsey, the benefit of this very cold weather is that it should help keep swelling down. I think all you can do is keep it cool and give a nice yummy dinner

if he is on bute already and it suits him you could give him extra packet tonight or am to help inflammation and bruising. hope he doesnt stiffen up overnight.

Ahh, hope hes better soon. I think owners feel more pain than the horses with worrying about them!! X

He is on two a day anyway so don't want to give him anymore. Totally agree with Hannah I think I am feeling the pain more than him!
