My picture is of a robin because when my horse broke his leg 2 1/2 years ago and was at the vets for nearly 3 months, a 'robin' kept appearing at the yard. He'd be sat outside my stable or on the muck trailer. (That was nov / dec time)

When my horse was able to come home in feb (to a new yard) a robin was often outside his stable in the mornings when I went to muck out before work.

Then we didn't see one for quite a while until we moved to a new yard (8 miles away) and there was quite a few times when a robin sat on the fence directly opposite my horses stable.

3 weeks ago we moved again (this yard is 7 miles away from our old one so not in the same area) and on three occasions when I have been in the feed room on my own there has been a robin in there. He was in there today just sitting on the window ledge. I know they are friendly little birds generally but he was literally a foot away from me today.

It's prob just coincidence I'm sure, but I wonder if my horse has got his own little lucky guardian angel. I never see robins anywhere else; never at home, never when I'm walking my dogs... It's quite odd really.

Our girls have a Robin sharing their building too :) When the poor souls were shut in for a week the Robin was keeping them company, he was very bold and stayed around while I was brushing them, you can just see him in this pic

, I took one of him right in the building, but you can only see him if you know where he is! :D

A robin constantly visiting you or crossing your path is said to signify a loved one trying to say hello I'm with you.
I know an old wives tale but I have one that sits on my bedroom window sill all year round and I know who I think it is looking out for me :-)

one dive bombed me the other day in my stable!!! he was singing on the wall when i was mucking out, i was watching him thinking how cute he was and he dived at my head!!!! apparantly they are really territorial and i had dark pink on my hat so not sure if he was a bit confused...wee s*** :-)

The day after my graandma died in 2011 a robin took up residence in my, at the time pregnant mares stable and she hasn't left us since. We call her Gma and she is very friendly

That's so sweet! I wonder if it's the same robin?

All robins are grandma to me! They will always make me feel close to her when I see them x

Robins are the most territorial of birds - that's why you will only have one in your garden, often one will have a radius of several miles (so the one in your garden is also the one in several other peoples gardens) they can mimic nearly any sound too, and if they see their reflection they will attack it! Really amazing birds, my old lecturer specialised in studying them.

Last autumn I cut back all the brambles in the field and the robins would sit on the fence waiting for the opportunity to swipe seeds and bugs from the freshly cleared ground. They had no qualms about hopping over my wellies if I got in the way too!

Last few weeks I've noticed one flitting in and out of the barn, I suspect because there's horse hair all over the floor and a bin full of grass seed with no lid on!

How nice,I wish I had a normal horse who kept company with Robins and suchlike. Unfortunately Bob the notacob has taken to walking about in the field with five huge crows on his back. According to him they are ravens and enhance his "Goth"immage.

Aww we have a robin that likes to hang around when I poo pick, I love the story about them being a loved one coming to say hello, mine is grandma too although I call him Robert as that seemed more fitting for a robin :-)

aww that's sweet :) I also have a robin that will come and sit in the caravan at the stables ! always finding it in there- so I've started feeding 'him' bits of my lunch :o

How lovely - I so miss the robins and blue tits - we don't have them here in NZ - lots of blackbirds, thrushes and sparrows and of course pigeons - evidently the history books say the robins didn't survive the journey to NZ

Buy him some meal worms and maybe he will get a wife to live around your garden.

Two years running robins nested in one of my riding hats hanging up in the stables. It was lovely to watch them growing up. Needless to say, I let them keep the hat! I'm sure i have some photos of them somewhere.

These are all beautiful stories....my horse has a robin friend too, who nibbles leftovers all year round, he waits patiently on a twig for him to finish, yesterday I was telling oh that I think he performs for me as he's always flapping around...if it's a spirit saying hello, then I'm comforted by that...my favourite tale is the gothic fella, take a pic, it'd make me smile!
