Vets advice was to rest for 3 months. No riding or lunging, just roughed off. He's still brought in for a couple of hours a day for a groom etc but apart from that he's living out 24/7 with 3 other geldings. Problem is, he is so bored now he's not doing anything, he seems to have gone bonkers. He is galloping round the field so often, bucking, rearing, literally flying through the air, jumping on the other horses! He is literally like a ball of energy waiting to explode when led, jogging and snorting. He's pretty good at holding it in until we reach the field, but the minute his head collar is undone he bolts. He's only 5 but he's acting like he did back when he was a 2/3 year old! My main concern is that the vet wanted him to rest and chill out as he had a possible rib fracture and some real sore spots. But his hoolying around is anything but resting! I think he has gone mad!

It could be that the saddle and girth are affecting the rib, but a fractured rib won't stop a horse hoolying around. OP he is fit and needs an outlet for his energy. Don't worry about it.
