well i posted on saturday about how chuffed i was that he was back in walk work on the lunge and was sound. and i do remeber saying "you wait, il go down the yard in the morn and he will have injured hiself on something"
well not so much injured himself on something but he managed to spectacularly fall over. He was running around like a loony in his turnout pen for no apparant reason, jumped up in the air, fly bucked, kicked the fence and as he landed his legs completely gave way and he fell to the floor like a sack of s4it! legs in the air joby, splat on the floor. He was extremely quiet afterwards, wether he had just scared himself or has hurt himself i dont know. he is stiff turning but seems ok when walking in a straight line. his left hock is warm but i dont know how much of this is his spavins. I have palpated all of his back end and he seems ok. im going to walk him on the lunge in a bit to see how he looks. i cant believe what a muppet he is. i can feel another vet bill coming on :-/

bless him, what a silly bugger!!!! At least he must be feeling better?!

If it makes you feel any better, my mare did a very similar thing! Absolutly turned herself inside out, but then didn't get her landing gear in order so tipped straight over. V quiet for a while after, and she took a massive strip of skin off the inside of her near hind. Amazingly walked away sound though. She had a week or so off and saw our Mctim lady asap. She had some bits that needed work, but only 1 visit and all was well!

Hope any niggles are fixed as easily with yours!

i think i may get the back lady out to give him the once over. so frustrating, its taken this long for him to come sound and come back into work. just hope he hasnt done anything to himself :-/

China, I am really hoping for you both that he's going to be OK.

However, my horse fell over (with me on him) back in October. He seemed fine that day but the next day was on 3 legs. Was, like you, hoping it was just a muscle/back strain and had physio out a couple of times (on vets advice).

When he then went in, at first the vets diagnosed a stress fracture on his hock, now he is waiting for an arthroscopy of his stifle as they think it is cruciate ligament. This is 4 months later.

Fingers crossed that yours is minor!

my friends horse managed to get his rug of in his stable and got a hairline fracture to his pelvis so damage is easily done. His hock is warm to touch but he was diagnosed with spavins last august so i dont know how much of it is this. Im going back down now to give him to once over again and see how hes moving. Will probably speak to my vet on the phone and see what he thinks. could do with someone to lead him for me so i can watch him from behind really.

just gave him another check over. He has a very light graze to the inside of his front leg under his winter woolies, but the leg is swollen. hes not ovbiously lame on it but is ouchy on it. hes abit sore across his ribs which i would expect. iv cold hosed the leg and will contact the vet if it gets any worse. hopefully its just swollen because of the graze :-/

I have the mental image of a horse on his back like an upturned beetle scrabbling to upright itself... and I can't help but laugh! Hope he's just a bit sore from being a numpty - enough to put him off, but to be all well again soon. Silly billy 80)
