Arrgh just nearly murdered the swine!

So far this winter my ridiculous horse has - thrown me off and put me in hospital, squared up to the farrier, headbutted people, made a tit of himself at Riding club, attempted to break out of his stable on several occasions, broken a brand new bridle, bolted in hand, trodden on feet, barged his way out of his stable several times, atttempted to spin and bolt under saddle regularly. We've even moved yards, partly due to his unruliness. He fidgets, barges, naps, spooks etc etc.
Today as I was putting his headcollar on he slammed my hand into the wall. OUCH!!!!
He's 10 years old and he should know better by now! I'v read loads of books, tried all sorts, had professional help with him etc etc. The only thing that reminds him who's in charge is riding him firmly, which due to the weather has been impossible.
I now honestly feel like giving up and swapping him for a bike!!! I told him this very firmly this morning. He wasn't bothered!

Your horse doesnt sound like much fun! If i were you i would be looking for something else - let someone else more experienced take him on before he does you or someone else serious damage and then you can start enjoying your hobby!

Dont let him get you down!! Its really hard for all of them at the moment. Also think yourself luck that you dont have mine. He has been on complete box rest for 4 weeks as he pulled a muscle in his shoulder and due to ice the vets have said that he is not to go out till enough ice has gone that if he does flip out that he wont land on any and do any more damage. This is bad enough but what makes this worse is that he's just turned 18 month old and at 15hh 3/4 ID and built like a tank he is quite a hand full with all his pent up energy. He is lightly sedated morning and night to take the edge off it but he still spins round his stable rearing bucking leaping squeeling so as you can imagine mucking out is quite a task so much so my friend has had to hold him for me the last week so i can safely get to back of stable. once he can go out again he will be back to being a sweety. Its just something that we have to get through. Just in mean time i sugest u put a hat on when handling him atleast your head will be protected!! I need full body armour!! Ha Ha Good luck!!

My 2yr old has also been in for over four weeks - had mud fever, then the ice and snow arrived. She has been an absolute saint. She really has not put a hoof out of place. Turned her out today and after a five minute buck and trot about she put her head down to eat. Shes been a star.

Cheers guys, I may be an idiot too but hey, nobody's perfect. I sometimes think we're all mad but what else would we spend our time doing? Shopping? No thanks!
Gonna get on the beast tomorrow...
