I have a wintec saddle and thought the gullet wasn't looking right and he wasn't cantering on the left lead as well as he has been so off I went and bought a gullet gauge - and his off the scale by a long way!!!!

I had the saddle fitted when I bought him as a wide and I have noticed over the last 2 weeks that he seems to have really muscled up (he isn't fat - vet has said he is just right). Part of me is ashamed that I hadn't realised quite how much he has grown, part of me is pleased that he has been responding so well to the work I have been doing - and the rest of me is dreading telling OH I need a new saddle

I am going to try and get him a Wintec wide - has anyone got any experience of them?

Mine is off the scale too....had to sell my Wintec because it was never going to fit him!

The wintec wides do look good, as do some of the Thorowgood ones as they come in very wide sizes and some are epecially designed for wide cobs.

Good luck finding the right saddle. what type of horsey do you have?

Thanks for the info. I have just started ringing some of the saddlers - the Throwgood ones are cheaper, but I'm not so keen on the seat. There is a shop on ebay that is selling a new Wintec wide with all the gullets for £290 with postage - which after my phone calls seems quite reasonable. He is just a 16.2 mixed breed cob.

Is that your horse in the picture? I love his mane.

same prob here, had leather but it was restricting his shoulder and bruising them, changed to wintec, x wide a think !!! and have never looked back

I have a Wintec Wide, was the only saddle to fit! I have always hated synthetic until I got this and actually I like it! Its super comfy to ride in and very lightweight on the horse (since its got CAIR). It's not the best to jump in as the flaps arent forward cut enough but passable for low level stuff.

I bought mine from equestrian clearance!
