My youngster is stabled next to his grey friend. When said grey friend leaves his stable, youngster gets stressy, calling continuously, even if there are other horses in the barn.

Took him to his lesson the other night and put him in a spare stable whilst waiting for my lesson. A little grey horse left the building to be exercised and youngster started stressing (calling and bucking in the stable), even when my friend tied her sensible boy outside the stable for him to talk to.

He is obsessed with greys because he thinks they are Bailey.....anyone had any experience of this and how to deal with it. I suspect he will get better as he gains confidence, going out to more places etc (hopefully)! x

hmm, we have the same issue with palominos (he has a palomino girlfriend)

all i can say is that it has gotten better as time has gone on. We go to shows together and for a while I couldn't have him on the box on my own now will stand quietly and is very less bothered etc.

I have the same with my ID mare who is very much in love with a gelding in our fields. We feed them etc at seperate times to break thm up a bit, and have eventually got it so they call to each other but do go out seperate with no issues.

Try to keep your youngster mixing with lots of different horses at events etc, and persevere- it will get better

I had this problem with my 4yr old. I took a pretty harsh line with it and made sure that I brought her in on her own and left her in on her own til she dried her eyes and got on with it. We have no problems now with her at all - though her field mate still runs up and down the fence screaming for her
