My horse is special because ......

My Draft mare is special because she thinks her job is to look after everybody, whether that is just me when we are hacking on her own, her companion when hacking with sister and her horse, or the whole ride when accompanying a RC ride suitable for lead-reiners in fancy dress. She keeps the traffic back, objects strongly to any-one revving their engine impatiently behind her - and lets them know that she is not pleased by blocking the road and slowing down. She has some special displays which she reserves for any-one who takes issue with her antics - even the local 'hard man' has been known to back down when she got going.

She is special because she is a brilliant communicator and lets me know exactly what she needs me to do for her and gives snoggy rewards when I understand her.

Mine is special because (while he can be a grouch) is brave as anything, and if we see something for the first time out hacking his instinct is to march up to it and give it a good sniff lol then push it over ¬¬

my tb is special because after all the neglect he went through before me; he is the most loving, kind and patient horse I've ever met & he whinny's every morning without fail when I arrive
my cob is special because he keeps me on my toes, argues with me like no one else can and still wants a soppy cuddle good night

Mine is special because even though he's needle shy and I helped restrain him to sedate him for xrays, he still trusts me. And because even though he's been neglected awfully for half his short life, he still comes to me in the field and is genuinely lovely to be around. He also has the most fabulous paces and if I can get him to come right and stay right hock wise, in the future I'm hoping he'll be special in the sense that he will go far and show what half starved rescue ponies can amount to if given a chance. What a soppy thread, but I love it!

My horse is special because...he is kind and gentle and helped me get over the loss of my much beloved pony's sudden death and helped me trust horses after my last inappropriate and frightening horse, and gave me joy and confidence back, enough to really enjoy going hunting again.

My other horse is special because...he is so communicative. He whinnies whenever he hears or sees me, he makes me laugh when I get the right scratchy spot and he stretches his head forward in complete ecstasy, and he stays lying down when I come near him and even let's me pretend I can sit on him (I don't actually, because he is only 2!!). He is also 'special' in other ways, but that is another story!

My share horse is special because, even though he's scared of everything, he does his absolute best to be brave and look after me. Also, he likes to 'hug' me with his head and neck, which is always a lovely way to end the day!

Mine are all special to me but my little mare hold an extra special place in m heart. When I rescued her last Spring she was so scared of life and would eat the other horses droppings due to having been so starved in her previous "home" that she had to eat what she could to survive.

Her bond with me is incredible, she sees me as her safe place and still gets quite worked up at feed time, but if I hold her bowl she totally relaxes and eats nicely as she feels safe and know's I'll "protect" her while she concentrates on her food.

Despite the pain and suffering she's experienced at the hands of one very evil man she is still so full of love and, although nervous, so ready to trust you and gives me so much affection. She is such a special little horse.
