I was feeling so flat and useless recently, had a jumping lesson today and had a chat about my c**p position
wasn't very hopeful as J was in a 'make me' kind of mood, and had a massive nap going out of the drive. Anyway warmed up and he was really fresh, and kept leaning on my hands, worked on getting to spiral inwards in canter and he really improved, got him carrying himself better.
Then we did some grid-work, and typical Jerry he was perfect first time through, then he didn't make any effort, as soon as another bounce was added he tried again. My trainer decided to try something else as wasn't really helping him.
So she stuck up a spread with a really low cross in front and a high back rail, he jumped it perfectly, did that a few times, and she kept making it a bit wider/higher to keep him interested, and the added another jump on the diagonal, jumped them one after the other and first time he decided he knew best and refused to turn, ended up face to face with the wing and attempted to jump that instead (repeat of what happened in the warm up at NH) second time round, got in deeper in the corner and he flew it. Did it a few times till it was perfect.
Was probably the biggest we have jumped together, not great at judging heights but would say was about 3ft9 ish and he had no problems at all. My trainer was really pleased with him as she said it was the first time she has really seen him make an effort over a fence and the result was fantastic. I now feel all bouncy again, its amazing what adrenaline can do isn't it?
Sorry self indulgent post, but love my horse right now
