my horse isnt what id call pretty ....

I have a horse with a gaping socket where an eye should be. It's very shocking to look at (I don't notice it, other people do) but I still think he's the most beautiful horse in the world. Here are some very old pics of him. You can just about see the socket in the first.

(disclaimer: it may seem like he is overbending here - he's actually just about to stretch his nose down to the floor, the photo was taken at a bad time.)

Many said that my old pony wasn't pretty. This is a picture from about 10 years ago:

You may all see a fairly plain tb and a not particularly pretty appaloosa, but what I see is the most beautiful things I have ever seen. Beauty is definitely in the eye of the beholder. However, God forbid anybody insults my one eyed boy. I would get very angry :p

My Welsh Sec D is genuinely a very good looking horse although sadly I don't have any decent pics of him on here.

My lad is handsome (in a local handsome not Hollywood handsome kind of way) in my eyes, but it is subjective. I personally think dished faces are ugly, but of course lots of people think they are stunning.

OP I dont think you're weird at all, I too think of horses in terms in well put togetherness rather than pretty.

I think there is something pretty/cute/handsome/character-ful about every horse, I know that sounds a bit fluffy so I don't go round saying that in public :D Of course I think my own 2 are the most beautiful of all, that goes without saying!

This is my daughter and the most handsome pony Solo,

Some stunning horses on this thread :-)

Of my two, my boy (a big coloured gelding) is very handsome and we were often stopped by passers by who wanted to say hello when out riding. He has the kindest face and personality I've ever known in a horse, although I would love him equally if he looked like a warthog.

My mare on the otherhand is 'pretty', but not as pretty as my gelding is handsome. She may not be to everyone's taste - she is an appaloosa (virtually pure white) and has two wickedly black dots for eyes that don't look kind or gentle (does that make sense?). She also has poor confirmation and can be a complete cow, but I love her and her quirky ways. We tend to get stopped by parents of little girls as she does look like a 'my little pony' with her synthetic purple bridle LOL

I have never thought a horse to be 'ugly' - I believe they all have their good and bad points and I would never suggest to anyone that their horse was not beautiful, no matter what my thoughts were. Equally, I wouldn't be offended if someone said to me 'your horse is ugly' as quite frankly, opinions are like certain parts of our anatomy and everyone has one :-)

I love how everyone thinks their horse is the most beautifulest!! Its wonderful everyone loves their horses so much.

I think my mare is very pretty:

Teddy is a British spotted pony. He is like the english equivalant of an Appaloosa. I was told his colouring is 'black appaloosa with silver dilute gene, roaning out!) Which i think means he would be black but the silver gene lightens his coat right up and the roaning out bit is his splodgy roany bits.
That could be totally wrong though :D

We get lots of comments on how pretty phoenix is, at local shows and whilst were out and about....although he does get called a she alot!! I think his got a very gentle, kind looking face

My "old" mare (i say old as i have sold her but she was only 4) on the other hand had the most wonderful personality, was so willing and was a pleasure to break in....never put a foot out of line...yet she wasnt what i would call pretty....she had a dish in her face that was a birth defect which doesnt help matters

Beauty is definitely in the eye of the beholder...but i know for sure i would take a "ugly" horse with bad conformation, if it was honest and trustworthy that I would a "pretty" horse that was a complete nutter

Very lovely looking horses in this thread, wouldn't class any of them as 'ugly' in the slightest!!
Have seen alot worse :D;)

And Fany is gorgeous!!

Handsome is as handsome does with me: I've known horses that were, in objective terms, fairly ugly, but with unique faces and wonderful characters, were amongst the most beguiling of them all.

Then again, taste differs between people too - I love the look of Stephanie Croxford's Mr President and everyone takes the mickey that he's ugly!

I've yet to see an ugly horse appear on this thread: a few unconvential definitely, but none ugly!
