I am not managing to ride for as long and fast as my fatboy needs at the moment - and my sharer is a happy hacker, just plodding down the road and back chatting which is great and my boy is equally happy with that excursion but he is getting bigger and bigger and I am worrying. I was thinking about offering him to experienced riders (he is "bombproof" as they say but strong) for hacks out, as long as they like for a contribution towards shoes of £10 - does this sound like a fair trade? Thoughts appreciated and interested parties please pm me

Oh I am pleased with the positivity actually, I wondered if people would say asking for money was cheeky but his shoes arent cheap so its a vicious (sp?) circle. I am near Horsham. I give lessons on him to a couple of friends and have been asked by a fellow yardee to hop on him so her hubbie can ride hers but again, itll be a plod. He needs a good trot, canter and gallop also with some jumping if the rider fancies it! He was in great shape til I had a wrist op and broken finger to contend with (non-horse related - the joys of hairdressing

). Thank you again and keep the messages / ideas coming.

Ps I had a lady riding him once a week and I asked for £15 as she was taking him out for ages and she said she couldnt afford it and stopped - then bought herself a new car - hence why I hoped £10 was acceptable. Arent people funny

I'm in West Sussex (Crawley) once a fornight seeing OH (I'm in Bath at uni) but that's prolly no help. I'd gladly take him out for a good blast every once in a while though, if you're desperate? I often have a couple of hours to spare when seeing OH as she works during the days...

ohhhh becarful what you wish for ! some of the muppets i know would turn up and hammer him for their tenners worth - but they are idiots but they can come accross as knowledgable idiots. So get your idiot detector out.....

If you were nearer and if you'd be happy with a bit of an out of practise not ridden for years and just got back into it person I'd be happy to come and hack with lots of trotting and cantering as I need to practise - got another hack with daughter & friend & her mum booked for half term and last time found the pace a little fast!
Think £10 an absolute bargain given the RS is £27 an hour, which is restricting me as I've still daughters riding to pay for, otherwise I'd go more often.

thats a bargain!! I pay £20 to hack on a friends horses but i haver to say the horses are impeccable and amazing so its well worth it
