Im shocked and upset.....I went to put my GG out this arvo and as I stepped into his stable he span and lifted both feet off the floor at me!
I really dont know why he did that, we have a great partnership usually and I can do anything with him, to him and around him.
I have racked my brain as to why it happened and the only thing I can think of is one of the girls who gets to the yard before me pops his dinner in for him..she mentioned yesterday that he paws, spins and generally throws a tantrum if she isnt quick enough so she rushes to get his food to him ( if he did that when I fed him I would walk away until he was standing patiently and quietly) so maybe he is feeling a bit to big for his boots?

i think i'd make sure he was in a good mood by giving him a little treat over the door (and maybe even putting a headcollar on like that too, if pos, as long as he won't pull back) before stepping in and fussing him for being good. if there's any chance he's 'winning' with someone else, it makes him dangerous around you.... i think i'd feed him myself for a while until he gets his manners back.
if she has to feed him, she should just put the bucket on the floor inside the door, shut it, and walk away... don't make him wait, don't allow him to build up a tantrum, imho.

The only time that happened to me I was shocked as well as podge is always so friendly. Thought it was very odd but found out a few days later that somebody had beaten him up in his box for knocking some fencing down. We were out of there in the one day it took to get a lorry.

It's worth checking if the new person seriously upset him in some way. This sounds like a very defensive action from your horse especially if you took him by surprise and he was friendly the second he recognised you.
