my horse was killed by a speeding driver

Desperately, desperately sad. I'm so sorry.

I too would be interested in knowing what action was taken against the driver.

i rarely hack out anymore, as i'm so scared of being hit by a car, i really do not ever want that to happen to myself - or anyone else for that matter.

just heartbreaking x

OMG, how tragic, I am so sorry, this has brought tears to my eyes and I cannot imagine how awful it must have been for you and the other people who have had similar experiences.

So sorry but congrats on the website, its excellent.

I don't understand the fact that people who hit riders don't get their licences taken away from them forever

If they cannot see a horse and rider, they'd easily run over a child and shouldn't be on the road IMHO.

Not sure what I'd do in those circumstances, but I'd certainly want the driver in prison if they killed my horse!

i may buy a few stickers and hand them out to people at my yard.

so sorry about yours, and everyone elses accidents, hacking seems to be getting more dangerous as more and more bridle paths are either taken over, blocked off or there is so much fly-tipping you cannot go on them.

What a horrific thing to go through. Congratulations on your determination to help make the roads a safer place for other horses.

hi thank u so much for your support , sorry to make you cry ! you are right the accident happened on a stretch of road that was 60 mph but 400 yrd before in the village its 30 mph , not that anyone slows down , the yard qwner looked into getting the speed limit lowered but because the yard does not have enough road frontage the council would not listen ! but kids on bikes ,and walkers use the same stretch of road to get to the forest i get a shudder to think one day it will be a family on bikes that will be in the news !

Hi there and Welcome to the Forum, it is just so sad that it is in these circumstances

Yes I do recall a nasty letter and being so very very angry that someone could be so heartless, it beggers belief .... I used to ride along that road many years ago with my old boy when I used to take him to the Cross Country there ... but I am going back 15 years ago now .... It put shivers down my spine then and has just done so again, as I was so upset when I saw what had happened to you, and am in tears now ....
I am now over at Two Mile Ash next to Christs Hospital ... if I can be of any use in your endeavours please let me know .... the drivers are getting worse by the day ... and I am losing my confidence now

thank you so much for sharing that horiffic event with me , i cant imagine what that must have been like , i drive a lot on motorways every day and it amazes me how some drivers have so much confidence to be able to tail gate the car in front sometimes within feet of the car in front ! and even better in fog why dont white or silver cars have there lights on !! i see so many potential accidents everyday as i drive th m25 a lot ! for godsake i dont understand the need to speed !

oh my god poor amber , i really feel for you and reading your story i am again in tears as probely like you the memories are still really clear i dont ever think i will ever forget that day !like amber , holly scrambled at least 10ft after the impact , and to this day i swear she saved my life as i would have been under that car if she hadent ! i miss her dearly everyday . i sadened by the news the bhs couldent help , and yes i to am struggling to get anyone big ie mags interesed in taking up campaign , never mind i will persist ! take care and thank you RIP AMBER
