My horse was PTS yesterday.

Aww hugs for you. A very hard decision to make and very brave of you to be there from reading your last thread and your worry about it.

I absolutely feel for you but well done for making the best decision for your horse, it shows true commitment as an owner xxx

I for one know how hard calling time can be, I went through it on the 8th October for the 1st time in 15 years of horse ownership. Hurts like hell

Thank you. I feel ok really. I'm at peace that he is no longer in pain.

The huntsman gave me his head collar, but it had blood on it. I can't seem to get the smell off my hands.

Put it in a bucket with some bleach and water everytime you think about it do something else thats what I have to do ,not think about it then in a little time you just find yourself thinking about him and it's nice not upsetting.

So Sorry for your loss. You have done a kindness letting your horse go swiftly.

I still have the head collar in a similar state to yours for my first pony I dabbed the majority off but didn't want to remove the smell of her. Years later I gave it a good scrub and it comes up trumps in the washing machine. Do it when your ready just pop it away for now.
