hiya, wounderd if anyone has had anything like thsi befor or has any idea what it could be...
i have a 12 year old tb gelding, he lives out but comes in if weather bad. i notcied on saturday that his willy as hanging out and he wouldnt put it bk in, i had a look and it look fine so just thought id see how it was next day, on the sunday it look red and abit swollen on the end, i had just put him on nobute a week befor so thought maybe its a allergic reaction or sumthing so took him off it, i hosed his willy with cold water to see if he could put it back in but he couldnt, i left it monday as looked the same but by tuesday looked very swollen! so decided to call vets in the morning, i called vets this morning as was very very swollen, pussy and bleeding, i had also not cied he had stoped drinking properly but was still eating and had dropped ALOT of weight over past week or 2...vets came out today at 12.30 and she sed he needed to go to the hospital, i had to find someone to take him there for me so for the meanwhile she gave him some antibiotics and put his willy in a sling as is so heavy. i maaged to get him to the vets by 4pm and as even more swollen by this time, i had the top vet at the clinicloom at him and he had never seen anything like it. they sed his willy is paralised, put a tube up into it, did blood tests and put hand up bottom to feel bladder, he sed it was full and even wen pushed horse couldnt wee.... he sed it didnt look good at all, from blood tests looked like organs were shutting down...he sed only option was to put him on a drip cus he was dehydrated from nt drinking and see if he could wee as there were worrid his bladder was also paralised. i was told to go home and they would ring me..they rang me at about 7pm and said he had managed to wee so looked bit more promersing but would ring me again in the morning, i reeally dnt know wat to think, i have tried to find information opn the internet but i cant find anything, i have prepared myself for the worst, i just wanted to know if anyone had experienced anything like this at all or herd of it befor? thanks x

Oh god, sorry no advice as not heard of this, but just wanted to say I hope he pulls through ok x

only advice is listen to vets. It is likely to be spinal problem if he was retaining and paralysis, fingers crossed he pulls through. Sorry cant offer any other advice

Oh dear, I'm not surprised you are worried. I do hope the vets get to the bottom of this and manage to get him back to normal quickly.

How scary for you, he's in the very best place.
Will be thinking of you, hope it all go's well
Much love x

I've never heard of that before :( But sending all my good luck and hugs, and I hope he has a speedy recovery! My thoughts will be with him, please let us know how he does.
