We had words a few weeks ago about their waistlines, and how I was going to have to take action if they didn't take responsibility for their own calorie intake.

Being teenage boys, they said "Yes Yes Yes", and then blatantly ignored me. So I followed through with the threat...

I am quite possibly, the most unpopular person in the whole of Berkshire right now!

It would be so much easier if we could just explain it to them, wouldn't it?

I've got one on a diet at the moment and one teetering on the edge - I can't decide if he needs his food cut or his exercise increased. Probably a bit of both.. It's so much easier when they need condition put on. :rolleyes3:

Oh dear.. The curses they must be giving you!

Mine are v.plump right now and because the weathers been really good for our grass growth, our winter paddocks have 12inches of grass on them! Ekk! Can't wait for hunting season to start so they will really be burning the calories off good before I have to put them out in it!

I may have to join you in becoming a hated mother sooner rather than later..

I'm a bit stuffed as Alf is only in very light work - straight line walking on the roads for 30 mins (rehabbing post PSD) and Spike is retired!

Ah I know the feeling.. one of mine did a tendon last year and we spent 6 months doing rehab so I can sympathise.
They never make life easy for us, do they?

Nope! He's done a fine job of extending the early stages too - first by getting kicked right on the point of the shouder, and after a month off to get over that, I rode him once, and that very night, he got a massive chunk bitten out of his back, right where the saddle goes! It's taken another month for that to heal! Was contemplating getting back on him today, but it's chucking it down!

Apart from looking like horse versions of Hannibal Lector they are both beautiful lol xx

Thank you! I think so, but I am extremely biased! I wan't very sold on Spikes looks when he arrived a few weeks ago, but he seems to have improved with a bit of good grass (him) and some rose tinted spectacles (me).

Alf is 100% gorgeous - and always has been!

I can't believe how much grass you've got! In Kent, we haven't mowed our lawn since early July. It's just not growing anywhere even on my rested paddocks (although it's pouring today which is soooo fantastic).

(Oh and yes, such a cruel mum :tongue3:)

I wish I had that problem! Mine is looking a bit skinny and he is out on 7 acres, has a big feed and a flake of haylage every day!!! Dreading the winter!!

Its crazy grass! Got another 13 acres of the stuff on top of what they're on at the moment - all old meadow. Don't think I'm going to need to buy much hay this year!

love that dafthoss!!
lovely boys, what muzzles are you using? I bought mine one but she cant get anything whatsoever through the hole..need to invest in a greenguard or cut the whole bigger!

Alf has forgiven me! He and I went for a stroll round the the perimeter this afternoon, and we stopped off for a bit of willow tree trimming. He was very happy to be out and about, completely ignored the other two creating merry hell because their leader was AWOL, and did a good old giraffe impression to get at the best bits of the willow! He also had a cheeky roll in the old sand school.
