My Horse's legs seem to swell when has in the stables, i think this is wind galls and he just seems to get this when he has been in the stables for a night, His fetlocks on his hind legs swell, i hose them down, and then turn him out, and then when i come back later they have gone down, What can i do about this?

My Boy also has a lump on his hind leg, just a small lump and it seems to have reduced in size, even though it wasn't very big to start with, what may this be and what can i do to make it go away? Many Thanks.

We had a horse on livery that legs would swell if stabled, especially his back ones and again around the fetlock area. This was just the way he was, and they always went down again with turnout or excercise.

Where is the lump on the back leg? Is it soft or hard? If around his hock area could be a bog spavin, if lower a windgall. Neither should be cause for concern unless causing him discomfort or making him lame.

If you are worried give your vet a call.

Thank you very much for your response, the lump on the back of his hind leg doesn't seem too hard and it is below his hock but higher than his fetlock area.

Bless you - I know what it is like to be a worrier!!

Could the lump possibly be a bite? But again, as long as it is not getting bigger, or making him lame, I would try and ignore it.
