my horsey with impacted colic -ornot!

horsey still not well .... apparently spleen is massive - vet has never felt one so huge - vet now thinking is kidneys/liver or part of the gut has twisted. get results between one and two - failing that it means taking him to the vet college for scans. not sure when to call it a day with him. he is SO uncomfortablein his stable now - he hasnt eaten or drunken anything for at least 2 days, has had one poo alnight and is leaning back against his stable shifting his weight from onbe leg to another. and the sad thing is once or if we solve this then he is still lame on all legs.

So so sad i might lose my boy.

Having just gone through this it is not an easy decision, but I'm sure that you will do the right thing, whatever decision you make.

If you go to the horspital, just make sure you are clear in your mind what you will do regarding the result of the scan ie don't be persuaded to go for surgery if you don't think it is in his best interests.

I have been there with a friend's horse and while they are very knowledgeable, they do tend to takeover completely and assume that you will want to go for an operation, regardless of whether it is right for you and your horse. Make sure you take a friend for moral support.

Llewellyn is right. If you dont wish him to go to surgery (if thats what it comes to) dont be persuaded. It is your decision. I hope everything turns out well for you. xx
